Hi, I’m Hilary.
I do what I do because I’ve been in your shoes.

I’m a certified sleep consultant, trained in a proven, effective program that’s worked for thousands of families; simply put, I can help you and your child sleep better, now and long term.

Helping little ones develop healthy, independent sleep skills they will take with them throughout their lives is my absolute passion. And I love sharing in the relief and joy parents feel when the whole family is finally sleeping through the night.

I am a mother of two young children. My own struggles with my first child’s ability to sleep led me into the overwhelming world of sleep literature, as many tired parents can relate, and to eventually discover SleepSense through the sleep coach we hired. The incredible, quick (and lasting!) success we experienced sparked my desire to help other babies and families gain life-long, healthy sleep habits. Using this program also helped me get my second baby off to a great start.

Before embarking on this path, I spent 15 years working in health care as a physiotherapist; this has given me a healthy respect for the role of research in helping parents make the best decisions for their family. My years of training in meditation, yoga and Buddhist philosophy have helped me realize the importance of compassion and mindfulness when working with these little beings; it’s also given me tools I am happy to pass on to families coping with the stress that comes with sleepless nights.

My home has just switched from Vancouver, BC to St. John's, Newfoundland (one ocean to the other), but thanks to technology, I can create a customized sleep plan for your baby and work closely with you wherever you call home.

Success Stories

Any parent struggling to get their baby to sleep thinks their child is maybe incapable, a born "bad sleeper" or just too far gone to make any real change.  The parents who wrote these comments below were probably thinking the same thing. They were once sitting where you are now, but are blissfully on the other side. Your baby can do it.

"Our son Ezra had never fallen asleep on his own and after two years of bouncing him on the yoga ball to sleep every night and every day for naps my husband and I felt pretty physically broken. Ezra had also never slept a night alone in his crib. We loved co-sleeping with him but no one was in fact sleeping. We were exhausted and at our wits end when we talked with Hilary. We were honestly doubtful that anything would work. Sticking to the plan that Hilary gave us and having someone to be accountable to made all the difference. Ezra was sleeping through the night within three days! It was a total miracle. Ezra has so much more energy during the day and is way more joyful now that he has gotten some rest. He actually looks forward to his sleeping routine and brings us his pjs! Now rather then taking turns bouncing Ezra to sleep at night my husband and I have our evenings back! This has been such a tremendous blessing to our family! We wouldn’t have had the conviction or the courage to do this without Hilary! "

"Hilary is one of the most understanding, empathetic moms you could meet and on top of that she's a sleep specialist. When I contacted Hilary to help me with my baby I had hit my breaking point. My baby was up every half an hour, all night long in my bed and I was so sleep deprived I didn't think it was even safe for me to drive. Within a couple of days of starting Hilary's program Calleigh was sleeping in her own bed through the night!!! Hilary was so supportive and available anytime I needed chat. It transformed life for my husband and me."     - Jessica, mother to 8-month-old Calleigh

"Kaleo has been sleeping through the night about 90% of the time since the day we started the sleep routine that Hilary coached us through!  I was very reluctant to try any form of “sleep training” but I reached a point of desperation when our happy co-sleeping arrangement suddenly changed and I became extremely sleep deprived. After hearing some of the research from Hilary, I was prepared to try it, and I’m grateful that we did.  Hilary was responsive, knowledgeable, attentive and incredibly emotionally supportive."

"I am so grateful to you for guiding us so gently and wisely through the sleep transition for Isla. She now chats happily to herself when we put her down in her crib and it's amazing to know she has the tools to self soothe and put herself to sleep. I started teaching two nights a week and it's amazing to know that Isla's sleep schedule is in place and we won't be scrambling. You really have given us our lives back - evenings are our time again. It was a very difficult thing for me to do and I know that without your support and guidance I would have picked her up and made the process more difficult for all of us. I felt accountable to you, Isla, myself and the family and that kept me focused."  - Emily, mother to 16-month-old Isla

"Hiring Hilary was the best thing we could do for our family!  In just a couple of days, our twin girls were going down more easily (bedtime routine was much shorter and less stressful) and they were sleeping through the night.  She offered many helpful suggestions, worked with us through the tough times, and was there for us via phone or e-mail for reassurance and support. We felt great that our kids were getting good sleeps, and we also got our evenings/nights back!  She also worked with us to improve day-time nap routines. Money well spent, and encourage other families to do the same!  While there may be some short-term pain, the long-term gains are definitely worth it.  Thanks Hilary."

"Thanks so much for transforming our lives! Bedtime is easy and nice - something to look forward to - and she's sleeping well. She's much happier in the morning; our daycare provider has noticed too - she's better rested! Us too, of course; I feel like I can think straight again."
- Melanie, mother to 2.5-year-old Saskia
